The Salvation Army
The Salvation Army Greenock Floating Support Service provides a housing support service to adults with a range of support needs. The service works in close partnership with the ARDS (Inverclyde Alcohol and Drug Recovery Service), Inverclyde Community Mental Health Team, Inverclyde Homelessness Services and the Inverclyde Learning Disability Team. The support is delivered to people who use the service within their own homes and in the local community. Referrals come via Inverclyde Council community commissioning Team. Service is commissioned through Inverclyde HSCP resource allocation groups.
At present we can deliver up to 190 hours of support on average per week an additional 160 hours will be added to this in coming months, bringing this to 350 hours per week of housing support being delivered to those who need it the most.
We work in partnership and are adjacent to the local Salvation Army church Community hall.
Clients can attend groups all hosted at the Greenock Corps and Community Centre.
Outcomes
We are currently working on this years annual report but some outcomes from last year:
- 33 Clients supported
- 11,824 hours of support provided
- 2987 121 key work sessions provided
Some examples of evidence met:
- Clients when asked gave 100 % satisfaction response when asked during out survey in categories including having choice and control, having the right staff and being made to feel welcome
- 0 complaints in the service
- We have also received grade 5 during our recent care inspectorate inspection
Some examples of support plan outcomes:
- 67% of clients showed improvement with motivation and taking responsibility
- 61% showed improvement with social networks and relationships
- 46% showed improvement in meaningful use of time
- 57% showed improvement emotional and mental health

- Improvement of personal development while encouraging and promoting independence
- Development of life and employability skills as well as opportunity to retrain or gain new qualifications
- Service users are drug and alcohol free and increase their life expectancy
- Increased self-esteem, self-confidence and self-worth
- Restored family relationships – Families have son, husband, father back and relationships are stable
- Enhanced social development
- Supported physical, emotional and spiritual development
- Reduced likelihood of reoffending/relapsing
