Transforming Connections: Trauma Skilled Practice (Level 2) Training

December 9 @ 9:30 am - 4:30 pm

Being “trauma informed” means being able to recognise when someone may be affected by trauma, collaboratively adjusting how we work to take this into account and responding in a way that supports recovery, does no harm and recognises and supports people’s resilience.

To support Inverclyde’s ambition to become a trauma informed and responsive local authority, a Trauma Skilled (Level 2) training programme is available to all staff working in Inverclyde.

This full-day session is aimed at anyone who is likely to come into contact with people who have experienced trauma, whether trauma is known about or not. The session may also be helpful for anyone who already has a baseline knowledge of trauma informed practice and may be looking to expand your skills and reflect on your practice.

This session aims to help attendees to understand:

  • Defining and recognising the prevalence of trauma
  • Ways that trauma can affect people, including impact on brain, body and behaviour
  • What trauma informed practice is and how to foster trauma informed professional relationships
  • How to support people following traumatic events and help recovery
  • The importance of caring for our own well being
